Two sets of ear pads for producing and mixing

Sennheiser have announced the release of the HD 490 PRO headphones. Sennheiser claim that this new line offers exceptional clarity, comfort, and reliability, and have been specifically crafted to meet the demands of modern music production.

The HD 490 PRO series promises an uncoloured frequency response, ensuring a dynamic and authentic sound reproduction across the entire audio spectrum with a quoted range of 5Hz - 36.1kHz (-10dB). The headphones include two sets of ear pads, designed specifically for producing and mixing. This feature is said to combat ear fatigue and allowing for pinpoint accuracy when identifying frequencies in critical listening applications.

With their open-back design, the HD 490 PRO headphones have been designed with neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's innovative low-frequency cylinder system, said to ensure a full, accurate, and well-defined low end, and the ability to capture low frequencies with precision.

Sennheiser have designed these headphones to eliminate pressure points and deliver flexibility and lightweight comfort, making them well-suited extended studio sessions. Sennheiser's Open-frame Architecture, employed in the HD 490 PRO series, works to minimise resonance and reduce total harmonic distortion (THD).

Included with the headphones is the Dear Reality dearVR MIX-SE plug-in, which uses spatial audio technology to offer users a virtual mixing environment which emulates the acoustic properties of various real-world mix studios and locations through headphone monitors.

The HD 490 PRO Plus version includes an additional 3m cable, extra headband pad and a carry case.

The HD 490 PRO series is offered in two variants – HD 490 PRO and HD 490 PRO Plus. Both configurations include the HD 490 PRO headphones and come with a 3.5 mm (1/8") jack plug to 6.3 mm (1/4") adapter, 1.8 m cable, mixing ear pads, and producing ear pads. The HD 490 PRO Plus additionally includes an extra headband pad, a 3 m cable, and a case.
