Native Instruments’ upcoming Traktor X1 MK3

Latest version of DJ controller announced

Native Instruments Traktor X1 MK3 DJ hardware controller

Native Instruments have announced the upcoming release of the Traktor X1 MK3, a new compact DJ controller that provides extensive hands-on control over their Traktor software. Building on the sucess of its predecessors, the unit introduces a range of new features based on feedback gathered from the Traktor community.

The X1 MK3 has been designed to allow DJs to focus on their performance rather than looking at a computer screen, with five OLED displays offering immediate visual feedback of key information such as track names and progress, loop sizes, selected effects and effects parameters. Browsing tracks and adjusting loop sizes can be carried out directly from the controller itself using rotary encoders, and 10 transport control buttons per deck provide comprehensive control over the playback of loaded tracks.

Each deck also benefits from a set of four RGB-backlit buttons and four rotary pots, and a new Mixer Mode allows users to quickly take control of EQ and channel levels as well as manipulating effects parameters. The underneath of the controller is also fitted with RGB lighting, and it’s not solely there for looks: it can be used to provide a visual indication of parameters such as loop status, or the end of a track approaching.

A dedicated page in Traktor Pro — the latest version of which comes bundled with the X1 — allows the device to be customised to the user’s needs, with button mapping and colour-coding making it easy to set up and identify different functions. There is also a built-in three-port USB hub, allowing users to chain multiple X1’s or expand their setup with additional hardware.

Pricing & Availability

The Traktor X1 MK3 is available to pre-order, priced at $299£259 including VAT / €299. It will begin shipping on 20 September 2023.
