UVI unveil Xtreme FX 2

Sound design instrument gets significant update

UVI Xtreme FX 2 sound design foley virtual instrument sample library

UVI have announced the launch of Xtreme FX 2, the latest version of their sound design and foley instrument. Boasting a collection of over 4000 high-quality sounds and featuring a newly designed engine and user interface, the release aims to blur the line between an effects library and instrument designer and kit users out with a huge collection of inspiring sounds.

What's New?

The instrument’s library has been refreshed and expanded, with over 3000 new sounds joined by an expanded category system. Users are able to customise the built-in content and create their own presets, and it’s also possible to import custom samples to add to the wealth of factory content.

Everything is driven by a powerful new audio engine that offers time- and pitch-stretching, and the instrument is now capable of creating tempo-sync’ed rhythmic parts. The user interface has also been refreshed, with new customisable X-Y controls offering improved performance-based features and extending the instrument’s modulation possibilities.

Sounds, Tools & Effects

The factory content covers a huge range of sound sources, promising to inspire musicians and sound designers alike with an array of sound effects, foley, environments, instruments, synchronised rhythms and more. Categories including Activities, Animals, Combat, Elements, FX, People, Machines, Musical, Nature, Objects, Places, Sci-Fi, Themes, Transportation, Unreal and Urban are present, each of which are broken down into numerous subcategories packed with sounds that can be customised and dropped straight onto a DAW timeline. The new performance controls are joined by a variety of sound-shaping tools including synth-style filters and ADSR controls, modulation functions and some built-in effects.

Compatibility

Xtreme FX 2 runs in UVI Workstation version 3.1.14 and above, and UVI Falcon version 3.0.2 or above, both of which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and later. VST, VST3, AU and AAX versions are available, along with standalone applications.
